The Falcons of Jediane handler admitted that his team gave their all, played at their best but they simply could not match the Super Eagles’ playing.
Even the Sudan Coach, Burhan Tia accepted with a full chest that his team did all they could in every way against Nigeria’s football team, but it was not super enough to match the energy of the super eagles.
Sudan had a tie of 0-0 against Guinea Bissau in their opening group game of the competition, Sudan football club who is also known as the Falcons of Jediane went into Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations match with the ambition of outshining Augustine Eguavoen’s men, the Super Eagle coach.
Starting the game, Samuel Chukwueze netted in some minutes which left the Sudan team in shambles. More goals followed from Taiwo Awoniyi and Moses Simon.
The East and Central African country, Sudan actually got their lone goal which is at times called the consolation goal which was by a penalty kick caused by a foul from Ola Aina in a dangerous area penalty box area.
Speaking after the game, Tia admittedly said;
“We gave our best against one the best teams on the continent but obviously, it wasn’t enough to guarantee us a win,” the 56-year-old told the media after the game.
“They have a lot of quality players and it showed in their performance.
“They were too good for us. We take a lot of lessons from this defeat.”
As a result of this outcome, Sudan’s football team has plummeted to the bottom of Group D, with only one point from two matches, one draw, and one loss.
To advance to the Round of 16, the 1970 African champions must defeat Egypt’s elite team on Wednesday inside Yaounde’s Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo.
And the former Al Ahli and Al-Merrikh manager are not giving up, insisting that his club would do whatever it takes to defeat Carlos Queiroz’s side and advance to the next round.
He concluded by saying; “We have one game left in the group, and we will do our best to qualify even though it is not going to be easy,”
